"What will you accept for consignment?"

Kim’s is always looking for gently used, quality furniture and accessories. We do not accept mattresses, large appliances or beat-up furniture. Please visit our showroom so that you may see the quality of the items we currently have for consignment.  We do accept up to 20(twenty) accessory items Monday through Thursday 10am-5pm.  Please do not bring items on Friday or Saturday.  All furniture must be pre-approved before drop off.

"How do you price my items?"

It is in everyone's best interest to price items at a fair market value that will realistically sell within 90 days. When all is said and done, it is market response to an item that truly "sets the price." We strive to price the item fairly so that the items do sell and everyone involved gets paid.

"How long is the consignment period?"

The consignment period is 90 days. Should items not sell, you have two options: Pick the items up within 5 days of expiration (day 95) or Kim’s will donate them to charity. We are unable to make reminder calls to our consignors due to the volume of items we deal with.  We support Habitat for Humanity, Evansville Rescue Mission, Mother Teresa’s, Goodwill and many other local not-for-profit organizations.

"When do I get paid and how much?"

You receive 50% on accessories and 60% on furniture items; Kim’s does all the work. Your proceeds and a statement are available for pickup on the 15th of each month for the previous month’s sales. Otherwise, we will mail your check on the 25th of the month. If you would like to know whether or not you have a check you may contact us via email or by calling the store.

"How long is the wait to have my items picked up?"

Generally we can pick up your furniture within 1-2 weeks of the furniture being approved. We strongly discourage bringing any furniture item to the store before it is pre-approved. Because our space is limited it is necessary that we plan for all furniture arrivals. Once items are approved, an appointment can be made for you to deliver furniture to the store.

“Will you take my furniture if it has been around animals or smoke?”

If you have pets that have been on the furniture, it is the responsibility of the consignor to clean the piece prior to pick up. Items that must be cleaned prior to resell will incur a cleaning fee or may be rejected at the time of pick up. If your items have been in a smoking environment, it is unlikely we will be able to sell them. We rely on our consignors to be honest.

"I've never bought furniture from a consignment store before. How does it work?"

Most of the pieces you find at Kim’s are gently-used from another fine home. Some of them are brand new, such as lamps, pillows, rugs, and furniture closeouts. Some are antiques with rich pasts and wonderful futures.

"What can I expect when I come into your store? Are you a thrift store?”

Because your home doesn't look like a thrift store, Kim’s doesn't display items in that manner. We try to show you how things would look in your own setting. We strive to only accept nice pieces as opposed to something someone "needs to get rid of."

"Can I have my purchase delivered?"

Yes, there is delivery service for a reasonable charge commensurate with local furniture store delivery charges. 

“Can I buy today and come back and pickup later?"

Yes, you can. You have 5 days to pick up your purchase. Pickup hours are Monday through Saturday between 10 am to 4:30 pm. If you need help loading please call ahead and make sure our moving staff is available to help load. Please note that we are not open on Sundays and it is your responsibility to bring straps and blankets.

"Do you have a layaway plan?"

No. At Kim’s, we pay our consignors in a timely manner. By putting items on layaway, our consignors have to wait until the layaway is paid off to collect their proceeds and because our turnover is rapid we do not have space available for storage.

"When I get something home, if it doesn't look like what I thought it would, may I return it?"

No. Due to the unique nature of consignments, there are no refunds or returns. All Sales are Final.

"Can I find out if a specific item is still available from pictures on this Web site?"

Yes. You can call the store at 812-490-6595 and see if the item is available. We update these pictures often but items do sell quickly.
