About Us
Kim's Consigned Designs
Family Owned and Run Business in Newburgh, Indiana.
In the fall of 2008 Kim chose to open a furniture store patterned on other successful consignment businesses and retail furniture stores. With Kim’s background in design and sales and the support of friends, Kim opened her doors in December 2008.
Not Traditional Consignment
The business plan for KCD promotes high quality furniture and accessories priced to sell from the outset. We rejected the traditional consignment approach of initial overpricing coupled with automatic markdowns. Kim’s Consigned Designs was built on the concept of great items at a great price and a fun place to shop!
No Commission-Based Salespeople
The first year was exciting, while exhausting. Kim worked each day and with a few part-time employees. Although sometimes difficult this allowed them to learn every aspect of the business, first hand. Now you will find nearly 8-10 employees running the showroom at KCD and if you’re lucky you might figure out which one is Kim. Having worked in commission-based sales positions, Kim chose to initiate a policy of no commission salespeople. This keeps the work environment friendly and less intimidating to the customers. KCD has been fortunate in having great employees, many of whom treat the store as if it were their own business.
Largest in the Tri-State
Based on the great support from the community surrounding the store in Newburgh, KCD has continued to grow, adding an expansion of 3000 square feet in the summer of 2010. With 11,850 s.f. total this makes us one of the largest consignment store in the Tri-State.
As Kim’s Consigned Designs sales have grown, they have attracted the attention of the furniture industry. Now, some furniture factories consign their samples, closeouts, over runs or other new products, much to the advantage of the KCD customer.
Award Winning
KCD was recognized in 2010 and 2011 as the Evansville Courier’s Readers Choice PLATINUM winner for BEST CONSIGNMENT STORE in the Tri-State! We owe a great deal of thanks to our shoppers and our consignors for this honor.
